Los procesos electorales, tanto de las autoridades como del sector estudiantil universitario en Venezuela, han sido blancos de afectaciones por parte del Estado desde hace 15 años. Todo esto conlleva a la vulneración del derecho de libertad de asociación y el derecho de elegir a su representación estudiantil, por lo cual se ve violentada la Autonomía universitaria que concede la Constitución Nacional a las universidades en Venezuela.
La Universidad de Oriente tiene 15 años sin celebrar elecciones universitarias de manera legítima, debido a la sentencia N°113 dictada por la Sala Electoral del Tribunal Supremo de Justicia, en fecha 8 de noviembre del 2011 donde se ordena suspender las elecciones que se realizarían en ese año.
“Ver la universidad en estado crítico y de deterioro es totalmente triste. 15 años la universidad sin tener una representación legítima de las autoridades universitarias, producto de la sentencia 113, dictada por el Tribunal Supremo de Justicia. El presidente de la APUSB señaló que a las universidades se les ha negado el proceso de ir a elecciones, por un lado, para imponer la crisis institucional y por otro, para hacer que recomponen la situación, todo esto para “llenar vacíos en aras de una supuesta protección y, finalmente, para terminar de tomar las universidades. O no habrá elecciones o las impondrán si continúa la calma improductiva”, indicó el presidente de la APUSB.
Por otro lado, la comisión electoral de la Universidad Central de Venezuela (UCV), propuso renovar autoridades entre el 7 de abril y el 3 de junio de 2022.

Elecciones estudiantiles contra las amenazas del Estado
