Un domingo en familia es un regalo necesario. A veces parece que los tenemos cerca todos los días, pero cuando realmente sacamos la cuenta del tiempo de calidad que pasamos con ellos, nos damos cuenta de que es bastante corto. Por lo menos en mi caso, aunque tengo la fortuna de vivir cerca de gran parte de mi familia, con mi hermano no soy tan afortunada; por eso, cada vez que él nos llama para reunirnos, es un "sí" inmediato.
A family Sunday is a much-needed treat. Sometimes it feels like we see them every day, but when we really take stock of the quality time we spend with them, we realize it’s actually quite limited. At least in my case, even though I’m lucky enough to live near most of my family, I’m not so lucky when it comes to my brother; that’s why, every time he calls to get us together, it’s an immediate “yes.”
Además, este fin de semana pudimos buscar a mi sobrina, a la que no vemos tan seguido, así que fue el momento perfecto con las personas perfectas. Nos fuimos a un pueblo que está a unos 20 minutos de la ciudad. Generalmente, cuando vamos para allá, mi hermano es el encargado de organizar todo y, ya estando allá, nosotras nos ocupamos de cocinar, distribuir y servir. Las niñas pudieron bañarse en la piscina; aunque no había mucho sol, sí había bastante humedad y fue bastante refrescante para ellas.
Plus, this weekend we got to spend time with my niece, whom we don’t see very often, so it was the perfect moment with the perfect people. We went to a town about 20 minutes outside the city. Usually, when we go there, my brother is in charge of organizing everything, and once we’re there, we take care of cooking, serving, and setting the table. The girls were able to swim in the pool; although it wasn’t very sunny, it was quite humid, and it was quite refreshing for them.
Hicimos parrilla y conversamos. De hecho, hasta mi madre me prestó el carro para empezar a practicar. Pasamos un rato súper agradable, comimos delicioso y estuvimos unidos. ¿Qué más se le puede pedir a la vida?
A veces uno cree ser dichoso cuando gana mucho dinero, cuando tiene muchas cosas o aquello con lo que soñaba cuando era pequeño. Y sí, todo eso es importante, pero la verdadera riqueza la tiene quien puede compartir con su familia, disfrutar de ellos y pasar momentos agradables donde los problemas no importan y todo sucede de una forma tan bonita y genuina.
We had a barbecue and chatted. In fact, my mom even let me borrow her car so I could start practicing. We had a really nice time, ate delicious food, and were together. What more could you ask for in life? Sometimes we think we’re happy when we make a lot of money, when we have a lot of things, or when we achieve what we dreamed of as children. And yes, all of that is important, but true wealth belongs to those who can share with their family, enjoy their company, and spend pleasant moments where problems don’t matter and everything happens in such a beautiful and genuine way.
