It's been over 7 years since I started snowboarding or rather bought my first one and over 15 years since my dad thought me how to stand on skis. Since my snowboarding skills grow from year to year it took me a long time to get a hang of it as I started slowly and gradually, but surely got the feeling for it.
Never spent on equipment more than I could afford, have always been watching my own stuff carefully and I handle my gear with most respect, what my parents thought me and stayed within me. Sounds almost like my investment plan.
In all these years I had a day or two of schooling when a friend helped me get the basics and a feeling sliding down the slope covered with ice and powder. Since then I learn new things every season, gradually increase little by little. Last two previous season we had very little snow, just enough to go straight downhill.
On Monday I sent my snowboard to a professional full service for the first time. Met my old professor from highschool that was servicing and repairing them. He trimmed, waxed and sharpened the edges with a special machine and later finished it with his hands. I saw the passion he had and I know he's servicing them for over 10 years.
This morning I woke up at 5 am in a powdery day that started with cleaning a lot of snow that got me in a good mood and a great morning exercise. We got rewarded with 25-30cm of fresh snow that didn't show any problems for my 4motion Passat as I drove to the job. Some had a few, but I was blasting Defected house vibes out loud on my drive to the city and knew that fun times are waiting after work.
As I finished and got back home I got my gear, dressed up and went straight on to the snow. Since it was first time giving my snowboard to a professional I noticed a difference straight away as the fresh wax actually allowed the board to slide even before I got on it. Just before I went down the fresh powder a few children followed to watch and say hello.
I hope atleast one might want to try out one day, as I soon found out sliding downhill is one of the most amazing feelings I ever experienced.
It felt soo good going down as I was finally actually able to turn, gain real speed and felt like flowing threw matter without digging in mud. The service transformed my experience and additional snow just made a real fun time and an excellent exercise walking back up.
Darkness soon got me, but I did not stop when it got dark, nor when I got tired, I stopped when I was finished for the day. It also got so dark I didn't seen anything anymore. Had about an hour of an amazing time.
I'm so grateful for the amount of snow we received, for all the blessings and positive people around me, for all the food and water received, for my boss that boosted me with positivity, that I'm healthy, all the passed failures and that I'm able to slide down the hill. Super thankful to be able to think with my own mind, able to dream & have a burning desire.
Here are a few photos from Sunday when I drove on top of hill Lisca (950m), since almost all of the snow melted on our hills. Quality is not the best as I headed outside late after a nice long nap and a active apartment cleaning.
Thank you for taking time reading, stopping by and staying positive. Wishing you a good day & a good life!
