I always like to emphasize how difficult it is to make lists (especially when the main topic is so good, but the amount of choices has to be so restrictive) because it usually takes time... So, I had to wait a few days (so I can better choose the options and not feel sorry afterwards, haha!) to be able to post my entry this month.
Having said that, I decided to choose the options by genre and the three I chose were "Investigation", "Comedy" and "Fiction". That way, I managed to be more fair and democratic (because when it comes to making lists, I always think that I am committing some kind of injustice, haha!) with my own choices.
So, let's go to my TOP 03 this month!
#01. CSI: Crime Scene Investigation
Within the investigative world, this is one of my favorite TV series. Despite the fact that there is a lot of "recycling" in this franchise (because of the side projects: the spin-offs) I still think this show is very original, very intriguing (in terms of narrative complexity) and extremely important for the history of the TV series.
The cast is great (they have a lot of synergy together... even having so many separate scenes), the scripts tend to be very interesting (sometimes, so imersive), the stories tend to be cohesive (very close to the reality of many people) and despite some surrealities, always looking for a logical solution to reveal the mysteries in each of the episodes.
#02. F.R.I.E.N.D.S
I know that choosing this option can be considered a "cliché", but the point is that in terms of comedy, this TV series is something very difficult to be beaten by any other series of the same genre. It is a classic sitcom, which has stamped a very important space on TV (something that was not very common to be seen in comedy series).
The script is simple, the general plot too. But the way everything is written and mainly performed (by an undoubtedly very good and energetic cast) makes this series funny and at the same time reflective because it is based on the triviality that it tries to represent (and manages to do it countless times) to real life.
#03. Game of Thrones
I love the HBO channel so I couldn't miss the opportunity to include one of its amazing productions in my post. For me, choosing this TV series was a "must" for all the magnetism it brought to the world of TV series and the history it has managed to build over the years (even though the ending was something very bitter... at least for me).
This project's commitment to becoming big is something surreal. I love the viscerality of the story, the way the episodes are directed, the different and complex layers of the characters (played by a grand cast), the sensational settings and the jaw-dropping special effects (especially the dragons, which are mine favorite characters).
So... That's it, folks! I hope you all enjoyed my TV series selection and that the competition this month is even more fierce than the previous one, so that we all have a more competitive and more fun contest.
