Times are hard. So hard, that I’m happy to receive a letter signed by Trump — because it contains economic relief (which, of course, he takes credit for).
But, I’d rather give credit to Andrew Yang — who I think is making a difference & leading by example.
When during his candidacy for US President, he spearheaded the debate on universal basic income, and proposed $1000/month to alleviate the suffering of Americans, he was laughed off the stage.
Yet a month ago, Republicans and Democrats have signed off on a similar idea, with the government giving direct payment to Americans with the coronavirus relief bill, to help people survive financially as much of the economy shuts down in an effort to slow the spread of covid-19.
The idea is for this to be a one-off thing with over 80 percent of American adults receiving a payment, according to an initial estimate.
Meantime, Yang is not relying solely on the government and through his Humanity Forward Coronavirus Relief Fund will distribute at least $1 million dollars to those most in need during this time of crisis.
Visit movehumanityforward.com/covid-relief for more details.
Moreover, Humanity Forward is seeking to help a segment of the population that was struggling even before the pandemic, creative artists, through competition/expo with prizes.
Thank you, Mr Yang, for your vision, compassion & reminding us that we’re all in this together
Meantime, grateful for the ‘economic impact payment’ & hope to make it last...
Hope this finds you in good health and spirit 🙏🏼
