Another spin around the Sun
Above you can see a little snippet of me celebrating my birthday over the clouds. It's just a few seconds in remembrance of my theme "Over the clouds" that was recorded at this very spot years ago. Every December weather conditions favour the formation of this "ocean of clouds" and It has become tradition I come up here and film a video. The Original version was done 3 years ago. And in fact last year and this one I've recorded new videos I still need to edit. But I wanted to share a candid snippet from my phone.

The theme was born 3 years ago, but the video at the beginning of the article is me reenacting the moment this 2021. More videos at this place are coming as it's a tradition for me to welcome Winter here.

Sharing a recap of my birthday that was 16th of December. I completed another spin around the sun! And I spent it up in the clouds. Most people tell me I'm up in the clouds anyway. I cannot believe we're almost ending the year. Where did the time go? Some people say time flies faster as you get older but this year felt a bit vertiginous. Even if the year overall was not that great I have learned a lot through its many challenges. I don't have to say that this decade has been a test for many but I do believe it will also make us value the small things better.

Above: me 16th of December... do I look wiser now? LOL. By the way my grey hat is a new, I had it in green and brown, but I feel now like a nice of Gandalf the Grey (if he had any)
So here I am, a generation X middle-age geek girl that loves fantasy, and I still fight for my dream, and I still think it is worth... And I hope that will remain the same when I'm old and wrinkled (well older and more wrinkled). It is quite a rare occurrence where I live, but just as magic, every December we get those very foggy days and I can go up to a mountain nearby to see the clouds from above. I rose over the gloomy, foggy day to reach the sun! and that's how it felt when I rose up to see a beautiful and gorgeous blue sky. I have been very tired of late and feeling the warmth of the sun when it's almost Winter (Solstice around the corner) felt like a balm.
As you can observe there are some trails up there. Those are "contrails" (not chemtrails) also known as vapor trails, caused by the condensation
Chasing the Sun over the sea of clouds
Where I live, it is very foggy this time of the year. It almost created the illusion I was in my native Canary Islands, as there the pinewoods and the formation of sea of clouds is very common. Now where I live it has been happening every December and it really feels like you are flying over a cotton white billowy blanket. This phenomena occurs in stable air mass conditions such as in a temperature inversion. Humidity can then reach saturation and condensation leads to a very uniform stratus cloud or fog. Above this layer, the air must be dry, and below it It is overcast and foggy and we often wake to soft rime and frost in the mornings.
Above... first a visit to the gloomy ruins, I took some pictures that I'll upload some other day and then heading up an up to chase the sun.
I left behind the blurry ruins that could be perfectly the scenery of a gothic novel
And up and up we went, the light of sun scattering in rays through the mist
And just by magic!! The blue sky, dry air and LIGHT. And there I stayed until the sun set in the west. With the hope of a sun and a light that will be returning
So in those days when there's a big difference of temperature between morning and night, with high humidity and still wind... it's to expected the magic white ocean to appear if you go high "enough".
The sea of clouds does indeed look like an ocean and the peaks like islands floating on it. And I quietly spent the day up there until the Sun hid in the horizon bursting in the most striking sunset colours.
Winter Solstice next 21st of December
Being the Winter Solstice (Yule) so close, happening next Tuesday 21st December in 2021, sun entering Capricorn at 16:59 CET. According to the astronomical definition, Winter begins in the Northern Hemisphere. being that the shortest day in the Northern Hemisphere... but as Winter starts, day, little by little become longer. I explained this in my previous post. Yule (Winter's Solstice)
It's this one another significant date for me, as it marks the return of light (days will become longer after this date)Nature seems dormant and still but within the earth life is stirring, a hope that will become brighter and clear as days become longer. This is a time of sharing (as animals share their stored seeds in their burrows). It is also a time for new resolutions, to ignite those seeds that will grow
Nature is wise and knows
so down deep life waits still
waiting for warmth to regrow
