MY BEST TRAVEL EXPERIENCE
My best travel experience was when i traveled to my village, a couple of miles from the city i currently live in. We were traveling for a burial ceremony. We joined a convoy but later got separated from the others. I happened to join a car with a friend and some of my distant cousins, They were in high spirits. It's not good, but they opened a bottle of rum and passed it around. When we got to the highway, the speed at which we were driving was crazy. At one point, we encountered a military escort vehicle, also going at high speed. Pleased with how my cousin was driving, they decided to clear the path for us. The whole scene became interesting as we maneuvered through vehicles, just like in the movies, until we got to our destination.
MY WORSE TRAVEL EXPERIENCE
It was a couple of years back when I was younger. We were traveling to the village, but this time from Togo. The journey is not always smooth when we’re not taking a luxury bus. It all started at the border between Benin Republic and Nigeria, where we were extorted by agents working there. At one point, we were almost robbed. This border is long and dangerous, covering almost 15 poles. At one point, my dad and one of my uncles were arrested and detained in a cell at the border. We waited for many hours, begging with money, before they could be released. Our luggage was destroyed, and we had to replace it once we finally crossed to the other side. Long story short, by the time we reached the village, we had spent more than we budgeted, and we were utterly exhausted. At one point, we even had to sleep on chairs in a motor station, infested with what I called mutant mosquitoes.
