These days, the Government of India and the State Governments are working together to connect villages with solar energy. These initiatives were taken to solve the electricity problem and improve the rural standard of living. They are coming up with various plans scheme to promote the solar usage. These scheme provides huge subsidy for installing rooftop solar panels in homes, and in fields. Recently, we made use of one of such scheme in installing 1000 watts of solar pump in our backyard.
I have seen how people are spending a lot towards installing these solar panels for energy generation in their home. There are few active hive users too who love sharing regular updates on their #solar energy usage. However, in my case, it was recently been installed. Under this scheme farmers category are getting huge subsidy (even up to 90%) on installation of these solar powered irrigation pumps. This helps in reducing dependence on electricity and reducing costs of irrigation. As this installation are meant for irrigation, it require certain criteria to fulfill ;
- the applicants should be a farmer
- they posses an irrigation land
- having a source of water nearby (bore well or wells)
We have fulfilled all the criteria and made the application online. After waiting for over 6 months, which mostly involved scrutinizing the application and physical verification of the property, the government officials dispatched the machines and solar plates with engineers for their installation.
The entire set up contains:
- 4 solar plates of 250 Watts
- a water submersible pump, which we drowned in our well
- a pump controller machine.
- other accessories of its installation.
These were installed in our backyard at a minimum cost of only Rs.5000 (USD 50).
The government are continuously focusing to encourage use of solar power in rural areas since many years. After implanting many solar power street light, they are now taking steps towards the household. Solar pump scheme is mainly implemented through the PM-KUSUM scheme of the Central Government.
Solar is a clean, renewable energy source that cuts carbon emissions, reduces pollution, and combats climate change. I really appreciates the steps taken by the government to encourage solar power in remote rural areas. And these low cost scheme are boon for farmers. Although these solar panels are meant for #irrigation but with time it may be converted into household usage. It requires certain additional equipment. I am sure there wont be much issue putting these panels in both the usage.
In good faith - Peace!!
