Well just a quick update the first shoots of the seeds started to appear at day 4 with the Basil plant germinating first.
Well Hivers it’s been 2 weeks since I planted the herbs and chilli plant in the Kitchen hydroponics garden and most the seeds have germinated so far it’s going fine the LED lights are on for 16 hours a day and quite bright, the pump also cycles every 30 minutes I’m so glad I didn’t put it in the bedroom.
The plants almost all sprouted apart from the mint and rosemary so I’ll leave them a bit longe. The 3D caps I printed to stop the light getting to the growing medium has kept the dreaded algae at bay which is a success too
I’m so glad I put labels on the plants as the seedlings mostly look very similar when they first appear at the start, well I can’t tell them apart anyway so 2 weeks on I wouldn’t have a clue what I had planted and where so that’s a good one to remember for the future I really should have added the date too but may be on the next one.
The chilli plant seems to have done particularly well and has been growing the quickest even though it wasn’t the first to germinate.
So Hivers that went well now I’m thinking about starting up another unit just for chilli plants and maybe a dwarf tomato which I think would be nice in salads during the summer so I’ll keep you updated how that goes as I’ve already bought a second unit as the seller on eBay offered me an extra discount on a second one and it seemed foolish not to at just over £30. I’m not 100% sure where to keep it yet but I could probably clear more space off in kitchen or make some space in the study.
