In agricultural mindset you have a lot of produce that can also undergo food processing and this food processing will also be monitor and observed in other for the end products it will be palatable and edible for consumption. This is what I mean there are so many produce that can be source for in agricultural mindset which we also lead to another food entirely just like in the case of plantain.
This plantain can be planted through the sucker and within 8 months it will start fruting. This fruiting as well may last 3 to 4 months depending on the soil nutrients you have in your farm, or your environment, or your garden, or inside your mobile Seedbed. All this composition will make a very good fruting stage easier for the plantain or any type of crop that is being planted. So after it has reached it final stage of harvesting. The harvesting will be done and here comes the other processing that leads to one after the other. I took the pictures while the processing was going on this food processing is called Dried Plantain Flour Processing
- When doing this, you need to be extremely careful and cultivate the habit of good personal hygiene because all the stages involve needs to be practically analyze so that the end product will be very healthy and edible for consumption. You can also go through the stage by stage method as follows.
Step 1.
This was after the plantain fruits has been harvested and cut into small pieces food processing to take off fully. On this note you can use other types of plantain but mainly this particular species can give you a very good result which is not to be cholesterol free, and it's also reduces diabetes at the long run. It is also consumable and edible for old people who absolutely wants to reduce salt consumption or sugar consumption.
Step 2.
- This was after I had already detached the Plantain itself from the bunch. And now it is time for work proper.
Step 3 .
- All what you need are some of these simple tools. When you have all this it will hasten your work and make it more easier.
- Knife.
- A Bowl
- A Metal Flat Surface, or Roofing Sheets.
With all this you are ready to go. This is why I said you need to be prepared before you go in for this particular food processing.
Step 4.
- The next step I made was peeling of the Edible portion of the plantain from the pod. Every banana and plantain has its own pod. Before you can have access to inner portion of the fruit you need to peel out the outer layer.
This process alone can take up to 2 to 3 hours. So you need to be extremely calm and face the work squarely. When you peel the outer layer you throw it into the big bowl.
Step 5.
- This process should be done in an clean environment. Because personal hygiene or hygiene should be seen around the environment some of these peels may drop off your hands and you will required to pick it up. So this was why I went to a very clean environment to carry out this task.
My mom who is 70 years also find a way to assisted me in this particular step and process because it took so many hours before its was fully done the slicing process.
- After the whole peeling and Extraction was done fully, here was the outcome production, followed by the next step again.
Step 6.
- Here was also the outcome of the plantain peeling again.
Step 7.
- The next step I did was that I went to source for a very flat meters which will Hasting up the drying process. It is highly necessary for you to find a very metal surface. It will assist a lot through the help of the sun reaction shiny directly to the surface. After then I washed it thoroughly several times. To ensure and to give a good hygiene.
Step 8.
- I had to spread the already sliced not ripped plantain on the roofing sheets for drying process to take place as shown.
So this is our most of the plantain flower is being made and this is the process. And within 7 days it will have been totally dried up fully for milling into flour finally.
