That dreadful moment when you realize it is almost or should I say already planting season. That period of tilling and plowing the soil for cultivation.
How I hate farming😢 it's not something I find fun doing, I don't enjoy it one bit as it is very stressful.
And the worst thing is that we can't escape it here.
People talk about farming as if it's fun and my dad is one person that enjoys doing that and never gets tired of it.
He talks about farming and makes it seem fun, well, maybe it is to some certain but I do not like stress and farming to me is very stressful.
I also see make a blog post about farming and how he cultivates his crops which seems really fun and he tends to enjoy what he does. Though I admire his passion and love for it, but I don't relate with the same joy, or could there be something I am missing out on? Maybe you could tell me
why your face radiates so much whenever you visit your farm for either planting or harvesting🥺 I could actually be missing out on something important I don't know about. What makes farming fun and enjoyable for you?
So yesterday, my mom told me about her plans to go to the farm today, and though I was a little bit sad but I also knew it was my responsibility to help out around here while I am still with them. I had zero plans for today because of that. Everything in my budget for the day got shortened the moment she announced that plan. I responded in agreement to the news she brought, not that I had any other option not to or to decline, I mean you dare not🥺
So early this morning, we got up and started preparing to storm the farm which was miles away from home. My dad's car had some fault as such he couldn't convey us down to the farmland so we had to use another means of going there since the distance was really far. We could have trekked down there as a form of morning exercise but we had also done better saving the energy we had left for the work awaiting us at the farm.
To cut the whole thing short, I actually did follow mom to the farm to help out, I didn't do much other than dressing the ground for tilling and making of gutter for cassava planting and maize planting too. I also cut the cassava sticks into little pieces for planting. Mom did the opening of the gutter while I did the planting and covered it up after laying the cassava sticks one after the other.
Meanwhile, the maize we planted three days ago has already started growing. See the process so far below. My mom was astonished simply by the fact that it came out too fast according to her, it usually takes about five days before maize plant surfaces from the soil since it will need to decompose first before growing or coming out, so three days was pretty too fast for it to grow out.
While everything being equal, going to the farm today wasn't such a bad idea after all, though it been a while and I think I've gotten way too stiff and lazy for farm work, I never did enjoy farming or farm work right from my childhood days so I see nothing that will make me enjoy it now.
I still salute those who do it with so much energy, zeal, and passion, they are indeed the nation breeder!
Still your baby girl ;)
To my faithful readers and wonderful sponsors, my heart goes out to you guys. Thank you for making my journey here a fun-filled and exciting one. Thanks for trusting and supporting my work too. I pray that God bless you all real good :)
