Families in the U.S. now have access to IVF medications at a huge discount. President Donald Trump and pharmaceutical company Merck KGaA announced a deal to cut the price of key IVF drugs- Gonal-f, Ovidrel, and Cetrotide, by up to 84%. This can save families approximately $2,200 per IVF cycle, making fertility treatments much more affordable.
Starting in early 2026, patients will be able to buy these discounted drugs online through TrumpRx.gov. This platform will allow people to purchase medications directly, cutting out middlemen and simplifying the process .
The administration is also encouraging employers to offer fertility benefits, such as IVF coverage. While this does not create new federal funding, it may help more employees access fertility treatments without paying full price .
This discount and new access platform provide families with real hope to pursue parenthood. The financial burden of IVF has long been a barrier for many, and these changes make it more feasible for people to follow their dream of having children .
