I was in my room lying with my husband with the fan turned on, my daughter was playing on the floor with our dog.
As my husband stroked my hair, we started to hear the sound of rain coming on. We smile with relief: Finally rain! The last few weeks have been terribly hot and it ended up messing with our mood.
I don't know about you, but in the heat, I feel more unstable. It's like I could get angry at any time, or somehow overreact, whether it's joy, fear, or sadness.
It is as if a warmer temperature promotes agitation. If I analyze it carefully, whenever December arrives here in Brazil, when the summer temperature does not respect the date set for arrival, people are usually like this: more restless, happier, more stressed.
When it's hot, people go out more, have more fun, but they also argue more and are quite chatty.
It is amazing when rainy days calm things down. The rain and the cold, although where I live the cold is minimal even in winter, it brings me serenity. It makes me look more inside myself, it makes me reflect more calmly about life and about the steps I have to take in the next few days.
I love the serenity the rain brings. And I always try to make the most of this quieter energy. Because consecutive rainy days, where I live, are really rare.
I really want to visit cold places. I know that people in these places are more reserved and I believe it has everything to do with the temperature they are used to, after all, the culture ends up encompassing even that.
Brazilians are known for being affectionate, festive, lively... And I have no doubts that it's because of the heat.
This relationship is really interesting, isn't it? The fact that one's personality changes a little depending on the temperature.
One material thing I wish I had is an air conditioner. Because the heat gets in the way of my work sometimes, because I can't concentrate enough. A fan is useless on very hot days. But, unfortunately, an air conditioner here in Brazil is expensive, and the energy is a little high, which will delay my goal a little bit.
And you? Feel affected by the season? Do you live in a hot or cold place? And how do you think this interferes with your personality?
