I'm not going to put out there any of my personal thoughts on the recent events other than to say that many benefit from a police state and many suffer from it. History tends to show that a lot of control and ultra-violence starts with the "lower rungs" in society.
There are "bad" civilians and "bad" cops and so I reluctantly decided to read up on how the hamfisted tactics have blowback.
...attached is a link to the twitter of a marathon runner who showed pictures of the "kneeling on neck" move that was taught to American police. This is worth a look in my non humble opinion and again am just presenting a topic or ten. (am checking out a new front/community so forgive my forgetting of "Mastering Markdown") ;)

A ton of police training (and I've known this for years), is facilitated and carried out by the IDF. The IDF for the layperson is the Israeli Defense Force. Who all profits from training and making sure BILLIONS in military equipment goes to the cops?
Allegations that American police training in Israel encourages police militarisation is among the many criticisms regularly levied against these exchange programmes.
The Pentagon has given American police departments more than $7.2bn worth of surplus military equipment over the past couple of decades, which amounts to about two years worth of the annual US foreign military aid Israel receives.
Meanwhile, Israeli police and military forces can be hard to tell apart in terms of weaponry and tactics, and its training of US police officers is also often directed by military officials.

As an American watching the omnipresent march of draconian measures being shoved into our faces, I for one am sick of this shit.
I am sick of the chaos, violence, media baiting, division, destruction and overall decline in quality of life. McMansions aren't making people happy so just effing stop and leave some damn nature ffs. We don't need more malls or shopping centers in most places and an economy based on consumerism and war sounds like a crapshot to moi.
