I just finished watching episodes from the seasonal movie LOKI and it really left me in deep thoughts. It is kind of twisted in the real sense but it is something I'd like to test if possible.
Would you be able to able to fall for yourself, I mean the another version of you?
I'll take you through a little of LOKI's journey so you'll have a picture of what I'm talking about.
After being captured by the Avengers, LOKI was on the verge of being transported back to Asgard to face a lot of shame. Then suddenly a turn of events happened which led to LOKI escaping their grasp or should I say it gave LOKI a chance to teleport to another planet with the Tesseract in his possession.
Clearly feeling impressed with his mischievous doings, He let out a sigh of triumph which was short lived because he was apprehended by a set of people who called themselves the "TVA" (Time Variance Authority) working for the all powerful "TIMEKEEPERS".
They take LOKI into custody and he's given the label "VARIANT" which is given to those sets of individuals who veer off the time created by the TIMEKEEPERS to cause something called a "nexus event".
After going through a trial, LOKI was found guilty and sentenced for reset only to be saved by Mobius who's in charge of finding solutions to unnatural events. He takes LOKI and tries to break or bend him. It took a series of artistic doings to finally get LOKI to see reason.
He convinces LOKI to help him unravel some mysteries about some certain VARIANT he has been meaning to catch for a long time. After several events, LOKI discovers that this mastermind that has been causing the TVA all lot of headache is infact LOKI, yeah you heard right.
Clearly impressed and intrigued at the same time LOKI is eager to help capture this other LOKI all in a clear attempt to prove that he's the most superior.
Using his own LOKI instincts he tries to pin point this other LOKI"s schemes and pinpoint his location. After several failed attempts to catch this LOKI, the ended falling for the LOKI'S tricks and ended being outsmarted them and things went out of hand.
LOKI finds himself face to face with another version of himself, to his greatest surprise this other LOKI is a lot different from him, more cunning and a lot stronger. Desperate to understand why it is so, he follows this LOKI through a time tunnel and they end up in another time.
Oh did I fail to mention that this other LOKI was a female? Sorry about leaving out that important detail. This other LOKI is actually an expert in mind control and she does this and scourges through Hunter C-20's (one of the guards who working for the TVA) mind in a bid to find out the location of the TIMEKEEPERS.
LOKI ends up fighting his other self for supremacy but being a female he tires to see reason and team up with Her only to receive utter rejection. He tries to explain to her that they'll be a bigger force together than apart ( I don't actually know what LOKI was actually plotting) but the other VARIANT just wasn't interested.
Then the TVA finds them and almost captures them only for LOKI to use the TemPad to teleport both of them to another timeline. Unfortunately for them they found themselves in a time and planet called "Lementis 1"(a planet that was about to be destroyed by the moon).
They go through a series of death challenges together in a bid to get the TemPad powered up enough to get them out of the planet before it destroys. They hear about an Ark being the only source of escape from the dying planet and they needed to infiltrate onboard a train that would lead them to find the source strong enough to power up the TemPad.
Unboard this train, LOKI finds time to really talk to his other self who calls herself SYLVIE ( she clearly hates the name LOKI ), they end up having a discussion about what the definition of LOVE is and LOKI finds himself unable to explain what love is.
But after a series of drinks, clearly high, he sings in the train happily and clearly finds the meaning for love. He says:
Love is a dagger.
It's a weapon to be wielded far away or up close.
You can see yourself in it, it is beautiful.
Until it makes you bleed.
Ultimately when you reach for it...
It isn't real.
That didn't make any sense and they get thrown out of the train and like love birds they ended up walking the rest of the journey. They got to bond and SYLVIE opened up, told him about her past and LOKI could clearly see the hurt and pain she felt, He could feel her pain because it was his pain, the pain of loneliness, a cry for a companion, a cry for love. He suspected at that moment that he'd fallen for himself. But he wasn't sure, atleast he wouldn't admit that to himself.
They fought their way through to get a chance to enter the ark but just at the last minute, the ark was destroyed by debris from the falling moon and they were left hopeless and ready to die.
It is at the moment of death that you'll know who's for you and who's not. Clearly down both of there sat there as losers watching the sky rain moon and cause destruction on the planet. Surprisingly, LOKI didn't give up hope, he talked and told SYLVIE that if there was one thing he was sure of, it was that LOKI never dies. Feeling inspired again they both held hands and waited for faith to take it's course.
Just when they taught everything was going to end, the TVA entered through a portal and captured them once again. Both glad and annoyed LOKI found himself at the mercy of the TIME KEEPERS once again.
Mobius interrogates LOKI once again using his clever ways to make him talk about what he know. He told LOKI that SYLVIE had been killed, rather shocked and sober, LOKI couldn't believe it. He became frantic and I'm sure it was had that moment he realized that he'd fallen for himself.
On the other hand, SYLVIE had managed to convince one of the guards that the TIME KEEPERS were a fraud and had herself an Alibi. At that moment both LOKI and SYLVIE would have to face the TIME KEEPERS for their trial.
Face to face with the TIME KEEPERS, both of them expressed their disgust and we're both about to face a sentence when SYLVIE's alibi storms in a frantic attempt to help them escape.
What followed was a fight for freedom, both LOKI and SYLVIE, both one and the same, but distinctly different, fought both side by side for their lives. After defeating all the guards they realized the TIME KEEPERS weren't actually but they were programmed machines.
Utterly angry, SYLVIE almost lost it but LOKI went forward to calm her down, telling her it was going to be ok. She asked him how he knew that. He moved forward to actually tell her how he felt, only for.....
Him to get popped into tiny little pieces of nothingness.
That was how it ended and after that I couldn't help wondering how a female version of myself would be like and how we'll actually relate with ourselves. I know I'm weird , would she like me or would I be too much for her to handled, haha I can't wait to find out. If I ever can.
