So as I captured these shots on my iphone late yesterday afternoon outside the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne, I was wondering which community I should post them into, then by chance, I was reading

One of the most crucial forms of transport ever made, although used for numerous purposes over the years, has never been more indispensable than the Helicopter, especially when it's used as a literal life saving mode of transport.
Waiting for the tram to come on a freezing, wet day just yesterday afternoon- another vital form of transport for millions in a big city, I saw the Air Ambulance arrive at the Helipad built above Commercial Road and I had a few emotions wash over me with the sadness of knowing that the person in that Ambulance was desperately ill, or possibly dying, then hope knowing that the chopper was by far the quickest form of transport in this situation, so therefore the person had a better chance at survival because of this and then appreciation of the fact that we do have such essential transportation for these emergencies and such amazing, wonderful, kind, empathic and brave people that fly in them everyday saving those lives.
And then as it always happens when we see a helicopter doing whatever random thing we see them doing- awe, admiration and reverence comes to the fore.
Awe at the feat of engineering of them, awe at the vast amount of education (and money) that the pilots go through to get that license, admiration at their obvious dedication, determination to get through their education and focus when flying these brilliant beasts.
And amazement at the majesty of what these incredible machines can and have done over the years in so many situations, environments, disasters and other events, both heart breaking and life saving.
It's a flurry of emotions when we see one of these because in so many ways, it is an extraordinary invention that can do so much bad, as well as so much good, but yet we know that in this instance, there's someone in there who's life is hanging in the balance and we hope for their survival, but it may not always be the case.
