Few days ago, i read an article about the Hive system and i got curious. The information i stumbled across fueled my appetite for more and i began to google, research and ask a lot of questions.
I would explain this the simplest way i can. Hive isn't the only HIVE in the world. There are various other organizations with the name Hive.
A very brief history is that HIVE was formally known as STEEMIT. Major old timers can attest to this.
Where i got confused or let's say crazy was when i saw something linking the Hive we know to a mining organization in Canada. The source said something about a controversy over the name HIVE between said company and our HIVE. This is what got my attention and i decided to look into it further and asked other big leagues who gave me a different story.
This Hive is a blockchain ecosystem linking various apps and communities together while the other is just a mining organization.
I figured, maybe the mining org. didn't like that STEEMIT is using their name but then more research showed that nothing like that actually happened. I'd like to show you the different responses i got to my questions.
A
I read that Hive is a blockchain company and Steemit borrowed their name?
I don't think so. Never knew Hive was a blockchain company.
B
Hive was once called Steemit?
Yes. Hive was forked from STEEM.
I read that there is a company called Hive Blockchain company. How true is this?
There is but it is not connected to Hive. It is a Bitcoin mining company in Canada.
Okay. I got a bit confused when i read about some kind of controversy over the name when Steemit adopted the HIVE name?
Steemit is still Steemit. It didn't stop existing. The other isn't a Block Chain.
I'm glad i took my time to research and ask questions before jumping into conclusions.
Something interesting y'all need to know (especially newbies).
Conversing with these seniors opened my eyes a lot. We really are fortunate to meet Hive at this point because it wasn't always like this.
I found out that they hardly even were able to get $0.02 on a post, talk more of seeing $1. They had to engage in contest and do other sort of things to see such payout.
...we fingerlings were not getting upvotes, we paid bots for that and had to engage in contests to see atleast $0.02...today, we are making at least $1 for every useless post.
That part got me laughing. It's sad though if you think about it. That's why as a newbie or whatever, you need to remember that these ones hardly came across the money till some really innovative people came and made it a really Decentralized place.
So like they say "half bread is better than none", don't give up so easily and keep working your way to the top.
As for those who have people who guide them through, learn to show gratitude and appreciation cause...
I had no mentor when i started...in 2017. I didn't even know i had to put tags and write something reasonable. I didn't even love writing but for the sake of the money.
Don't try to compete with those who raised you, remember this. And whatever happens, try to remember who helped you. Most never even had anyone to put them through.
When i look at it, i am indeed lucky and so are you.
