We went for a walk down the Trent and Mersey Canal in between the showers. It was a bit muddy in parts.
I'm not very familiar with this canal but the Trent and Mersey Canal starts near the River Mersey, near Runcorn and ends with the River Trent in Derbyshire.
The lock gates were out of action because someone had rammed them with his boat and disappeared into the sunset! Close to Swarkestone Lock is Swarkestone Junction. It leads to a small canal arm which is the remains of the closed Derby Canal. It is now used for private mooring only.
We came across some bottle top art on one of the wooden benches. It looks as though it was a lockdown project for someone. I think it looks quite good.
We also spotted some carved sculptures. The sculptures were away from the canal towards Melbourne. Nice to see a bit of art down there.
