We called in at Carsington Water today which is a reservoir and nature reserve.
We parked up at the Visitor's Centre and took a short walk along the footpath. It wasn't long before we found the disused World War II Lookout.
It is connected to the Royal Air Force bombing practice in the area during the war, before the reservoir was built.
We climbed the steps to the top. It was very basic inside. Luckily, it didn't feel too high up so no vertigo this time. I was glad there was a bench to sit on for a few minutes before we went back down.
Later on, we followed the duck foot prints down to the bird hide. There's some large ducks around here. 😉
Once in the bird hide, we could see right across the reservoir. Bird wise, we didn't see a great deal apart from the usual suspects.
There were a few female pheasants looking for food around the hide.
It was a good visit. There was plenty of parking, lovely walks around the water and an informative visitor's centre and restaurant.
It was nice that it was warmer today, and the sun was out and a feeling of a little bit of spring in the air.
