I saw the topic of this week’s #POBphotocontest - INSECTS and I swear I had a good capture in mind, but when I went looking for it, I couldn’t find it.
I really, really need to organise my photo albums on both phones, cause finding anything is a bit of a nightmare.
What do you know! Once you decided in your heart to do something, the universe has some spooky ways of helping you to achieve this.
This time round the universe showed up in the form of Danny, my coworker. He run into the inspection room and said:
‘Monika, come, quick! There is a huge hornet on the shopfloor and you wanna take a picture of it!’
Wouldn’t you say my coworkers know me way too well by now? 😂
I didn’t even understand what he wants me to photograph at first, but I followed hih with my phone camera and there it was… a big bee, or a hornet like he said. Perfect insect for this week’s contest!
After taking a few captures on our dirty floor, I picked up a piece of cardboard to take it outside.
Of course, I had to take more pictures outside, since the light is much better here and decided that this one is my contest picture:
I scrolled through the contest hashtag today and there are many more interesting pictures for the contest, but you know - mine has a rescue story attached 😂
I found a tiny green area outside and placed the carboard next to it.
Good boy (or girl) walked straight where I wanted it to go.
For a little moment he walked around the greens, but I think he felt a bit too wobbly there.
So he turned around and headed towards safety of the cardboard.
And eventually back on it. What do I do 🤷🏻♀️ Seems like he prefered the carboard, so I left it there and walked back to my office.
Here I saw a bottle of water and thought that maybe my rescued hornet needs a sip of drink to regain strenght. The carboard flew away with the wind by then and I found him on the ground underheath the cardboard.
I poured the water close to him and he seemed to be happy for a while.
He was flopping his tiny hands and stuck his face in it.
Not sure whether he had enough of drink or whether he didn’t want water at all, but soon enough he moved away from the water.
Then slowly walked away towards the green patch. Truth be told, at this point I left the bee be. I did what I could think of and it was time for me to get back to work.
That’s where the rescue story ends. I have no idea whether I actually rescued him or not, but I didn’t dare to go back to that little patch of green to find out. I’d like to think it was a success and he’s still #aliveandthriving
Until next time 💙
