Fake life is a hollow existence that lacks substance, it is endangering your life just to fit into the concept of people's taste, we then do things contrary to our authentic self, and that leads to the unfortunate loss of philosophical reflection.
Fake life has become a trending phenomenon in this generation, people are after what they can get from looks, what they can gain from just faking a lifestyle, it has become a norm in this generation, whereby if you lake those fake traits you are not seen as being normal.
A person who lives in this faulty reality is seen as a fake, fraudster, a charlatan. These set of people have this inferior complex and mindset that makes them feel they don't appear valuable, or desirable so they pretend intending to get underserved attention/praise and as they continue in such a reality, the more they risk losing themselves and their sanity.
And one would ask is that the act of living?
But these days people rarely care, when they are used to a common pattern of their lives been shaping up by society...and they call that our lifestyle.
It has reached a disheartening extent where people reject new and improved ideas that don't correspond or align with their so call lifestyle.
Francis Bacon called it
The idol of the mind and the only way to restore a mind blurred by idols is to erase the prejudiced knowledge it has already obtained.
Prejudice knowledge includes
° Trends;
trends have so much capture this generation at heart, that the abnormalities of life become normal, people want to fake on cameras and own debts, people want to afford what their salary can not measure up to, people want to live an unimaginable luxurious life in front of people and go home to beg for food. Just because they want to feel like they belong somewhere. It has gotten to a large extent that sleeping around and holding the most classic bags, and wearing Cinderella glass slippers are now a trend even in my university, Posting the perfect relationship just to get attention and leaving the domestic and toxic parts are now trends. And these are lifestyles people confidently live.
° Pressure/influences
It's no more a new thing to find a person copying another person's lifestyle, I'm not saying a role model or mentor who you just admire what they do and how they tend to handle things or a situation, that is quite different from a person who's obsessed with another person's lifestyle like a celebrity or social media influencer, I see people go to a great extent of changing their looks and their personality just be like them, talk like them, eat even dress like them losing the insight of who they truly are or could be.
While others could be influenced, some are pressured by society, by parents, friends, and even by themselves to live a life that suits the public, that's when you find out that most people can't make a decisive choice without people included in their decision makings.
According to Francis Bacon, if this absurd knowledge is not clean, we are only living a life generated by the idols of the mind.
The outcome of living a fake life.
^ Painting an exotic and perfect life in public, they relinquish their natural self, trying to keep up with trends, they don't take pride in what they have naturally, therefore looking for something to transform themselves_ they become insatiable because they don't see their worth if not given that necessary attention and praise...(joy is a distance reality in their path)
^ Such a lifestyle comes with a price, people go to a great extent just to maintain this lifestyle, instead of investing in the right resource, they lavish their resources on irrelevant commodities that can only last temporarily with no useful importance to them in the future.
It takes a lot of time and money to start a particular lifestyle in public, and it takes even more time and money to maintain such a lifestyle and you see people venturing into debts that can't be paid.
^ Deteriorating their health, a person of such nature can take unimaginable risks on their body, state of mind, and healthy. Smoking and taking drugs become fun, a means of popularity... which only leads to unending suffering, one begins to look older than their age it doesn't just stop there, they ended up with serious mental disorders such as depression, anxiety disorder, addiction behavior, body dysmorphic disorder.
^ The external forces now rule their thinking faculty, one can not make a decision based on self-reflection and meditation when they are busy listening to every opinion people say about them, they care more about what the public thinks about them than what they think about themselves and their decision are based on such a state of mind.
^ A lifetime regret, when the state of realization dawns on them that they can no more keep up with every trend when they start to see how much investment they have put into an unadvantageous life... instead of building and working on their natural given self they start to regret and at most cases, they end up suicidal.
The Remedy
" Man is born FREE..."
According to Jean Jacques Rousseau in his philosophy of existence, he stated that man is born free, and happy. In this natural state of happiness, he enjoys the originality of himself that is filled with joy, happiness, and satisfaction
° this is the state we return to after we clear all the prejudice clouding our minds.
° this is a form of accepting who we are, and the level or extent we can reach without doing beyond our limitations, this is also a state of self-awareness and self-love.
Rousseau adds that our sojourn in society brings to our lives societal expectation which ultimately transforms into chains, for this reason, he completes his earlier assertion by saying;
" But everywhere in CHAINS.."
He states further that people are commonly alienated from their natural selves because they play social games that they mistake for their true selves.
Conclusion
This generation today suffers from the lack of transparency when it comes to lifestyle, everyone doesn't want to be left out of the coming up trends, it's like how Rousseau says we play social games that we mistake for our true self.
True self-love and self-awareness become foreign as people only want to look perfect in front of the public eyes leaving details of the side effects of fake life.
Loving your true self, finding happiness in yourself, focusing on how to develop yourself before even trying to listen to people's opinions...and developing a decisive mindset that's never shaking by influences or pressure.
