The recovery of Voyager 1

In the middle of May, NASA reported a communications problem with the Voyager 1 spacecraft, which, to put it in some way, had gone crazy.

The spacecraft is a 722-kilogram robotic space probe, launched on September 5, 1977 from Cape Canaveral in Florida, its original mission was to visit Jupiter and Saturn and it was the first probe to provide detailed satellite images of these planets.

It is now 23.533 million kilometers from earth about 233 million kilometers farther than it was in May, it is the furthest human-made object from us, light takes about 21 hours and 48 minutes to travel that distance that means it takes almost 2 days to send a message and receive a reply.

The spacecraft is still operational and is studying the Kuiper belt, although with limited instruments since its energy source is running out, the energy comes from a gene, the radio isotopic electrical term RTG, which converts the heat from the decomposition of a radioactive material into electricity.

Technicians have disabled various subsystems and radiators in order to save power for science instruments, NASA believes that both Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 will continue to operate until at least 2025 and perhaps a few years more.

The ship seemed to be in good condition, but the data it sent was invalid and gave the impression that it was randomly generated, it was as I said before as if the ship had gone crazy, after many analyzes and many operations on August 30 NASA published a statement informing that the engineers had solved the problem, apparently the fault was that the probe's AACS attitude control and articulation system, which is the one that keeps the ship's antenna pointed at the ground, had started sending the telemetry data through an onboard computer, which is known to have stopped working years ago and it was that computer that corrupted the information and sent the crazy data.

The activation of the computer that did not work on a ship where energy is becoming scarcer is a mystery, but NASA technicians are investigating the matter, at the moment the ship correctly sends us information and data about what was finding on his journey to the stars.
