this is my entry for the new POB Photocontest by @FriendlyMoose.
The theme is "OLD".
When I read the theme of this contest, I immediately thought of one of our trips last year.
Although the place we visited is not far from us, and we have visited the nearby town many times, it was still unknown to us and we discovered a real gem.
On my 1st photo you can see a section of the "garbage garden". Here, old objects were artfully and creatively integrated into nature. You can see how a tree grows through the car wreck...this illustrates how nature can reclaim your spaces if you just let it.
It was a warm day in August 2021, and we headed to the "Heerser Mill" Environmental Center. We didn't know much about it, but since we always like to discover new things with our son, we just went for it.
Surprisingly, the environmental center was located in the middle of an industrial area and was not visible from the main road. We first had to approach a passerby to find it.
When we entered the premises, we immediately sensed that it was something special.
The motto of the environmental center is: "Experience and learn about nature". This is implemented throughout the grounds through various themed areas and informational offerings.
Around the historic "Heerser Mill", the environmental center is involved in environmental education. Kindergardens, pupils, citizens and volunteers have formed various working groups and helped to shape this center.
The area borders on the river "Weser", and a highlight in summer is the shallow riverbed, where children can refresh themselves, build small dams or balance on stones, while their parents spread out their picnic in the shade of the trees.
It was a great day at the environmental center "Heerser Mühle" and I am always thrilled by such commitment, which is brought there to this beautiful and valuable place. Without the commitment of the many volunteers, the preservation of such a "gem" would not be possible.

dies ist mein Beitrag zu dem aktuellen POB Photocontest by @FriendlyMoose. Das Thema lautet "Alt".
Als ich das Thema dieses Contests gelesen haben, musste ich sofort an einen unserer Ausflüge letztes Jahr denken.
Obwohl der besuchte Ort nicht weit von uns entfernt ist, und wir die nahe gelegen Stadt schon oft besucht haben, war er uns doch unbekannt und wir haben ein wahres Kleinod entdeckt.
Auf meinem 1. Foto seht Ihr einen Ausschnitt aus dem "Müllgarten". Hier wurden alte Gegenstände kunstvoll und kreativ in die Natur integriert. Ihr seht, wie ein Baum durch das Autowrack wächst...dies verdeutlicht, wie sich die Natur Ihre Räume zurückerobern kann, wenn man sie nur lässt.
Es war ein warmer Tag im August 2021, und wir haben das Umweltzentrum Heerser Mühle angesteuert. Wir wussten nicht viel darüber, aber da wir mit unserem Sohn immer wieder gerne Neues entdecken, haben wir uns einfach auf den Weg gemacht.
Das Umweltzentrum lag überraschender Weise in Mitten eines Industriegebietes und war von der Hauptstraße aus zunächst gar nicht zu erahnen. Wir mussten erst einen Passanten ansprechen, um es zu finden.
Als wir das Gelände betraten, spürten wir unmittelbar, dass es etwas Besonderes ist.
Das Motto des Umweltzentrums lautet: "Natur erleben und erfahren". Dieses wird auf dem gesamten Gelände durch verschiedene Themenbereiche und Informationsangebote umgesetzt.
Rund um die historische "Heerser Mühle" engagiert sich das Umweltzentrum im Bereich der Umweltbildung. Kindergärten, Schüler, Bürger und Ehrenamtliche haben verschiedene Arbeitsgruppen gebildet, und dieses Zentrum mitgestaltet.
Das Gelände grenzt an den Fluss "Werre" und ein Highlight im Sommer ist das flache Flussbett, in dem die Kinder sich erfrischen können, kleine Staudämme bauen oder auf Steinen balancieren, während die Eltern im Schatten der Bäume das Picknick ausbreiten.
Es war ein toller Tag im Umweltzentrum "Heerser Mühle" und ich bin immer wieder begeistert von solchem Engagement, welches dort in diesen schönen und wertvollen Ort eingebracht wird. Ohne das Engagement der vielen Freiwilligen wäre die Erhaltung eines solchen "Kleinods" nicht möglich.
