Beware of Scammers on Hive sharing links in the comments section of Posts.
I recently became aware that I had shared my hive password with a linked site that claimed to offer 300 hive for people that voted for #leofinance as a witness.
The comment was on a #leofinance post and looked quite official, but you never know when these people will attack.
I didn't notice until after trying to vote that had replied underneath that it was a scam link.
I mean who couldn't do with a little extra Hive power and voting for leo as a witness is a good thing.
I immediately changed my password in the settings in #ecency and set up another account and transferred what little liquid tokens I had in that account of hive and Pob, as I had been powering up all I earned. I was about to do the same with leo tokens
But first I thought I better write this post in that account to warn the community but kept getting told I didn't have premission to post, so I went back to #ecency and tried changing my password again but still nothing happened and I couldn't post.
I am still unsure if my account was compromised or if I caught it and changed my password on time or not, so please be aware of any link asking for your master password, I know it was stupid of me and I was a little tired at the time, not linking voting for witnesses with scammers. So Please Don't share your Password with any links
What a massive error on my part.
A Hive Community Question
My question to the hive community is?
Is there a waiting or cooling off period between changing a password and having access or should I just look at this as a harsh lesson learned and move on.
Moral of the Story
Never give your password to any external site, you might just lose your liquid and staked tokens as well as hive power and have to start all over again.
Learn from my mistake and if it looks to good to be true it most certainly is, If hive was giving away 300 hive for votes I am sure they would be posting about it on an official account and not in the comments so please beware.
