People often think that by being human, we all have many things in common. Two hands, two legs, two eyes, and a whole lot of other physical attributes define our sameness. In a real sense, that's crystal clear and also an undeniable truth.
On the other hand, we've got quite a lot of differences.
Are you ready to hear an interesting hypothetical story?
It's about the identical twins, Peter and Paul. Not the biblical ones though.
By merely looking at the two, you would hardly be able to differentiate one from the other. They both grew up under the watchful eyes of their parents and in the same environment.
They were pretty much the same in all physical attributes, but they had a very vast difference at the same time.
Peter who happens to be the younger of the two can be said to be a full embodiment of Honesty and Truthfulness. He grew up gaining a lot of people's trust and that of his parents inclusive. All thanks to his integrity. So, of course, it goes with saying that Peter's character is filled with positive attributes.
As for Paul, despite the undeniable physical similarities he has with his brother, his character is the opposite. Deception, insincerity, lying, theft - to mention but a few - are the characters that are associated with him.
But why are they so different?
Not just them. The same thing applies to all humans.
We can see our sameness by virtue of being humans, yet everyone of us have a lot of differences in character and personality.
If you want to read further on the possible reasons for these differences that exist between humans in terms of characters and personality, you would have to dig deeper into the "nature versus nurture" research reported by Saul McLeod.
You see, in this world of ours, even when there are a lot of adorable people with adorable characters and personalities on one side, we also have others that are the complete opposite on the other side.
We are very much alike...and also different in a lot of ways.
Here is the good news
You can adjust your personality and adopt characters that are okay by you.
Hopefully, it will also be the ones that are logically okay to the rest of the world.
Hopefully!
