My wife and I love antiquing and we recently found a new indoor market a little ways from where we live.
Most of these markets tend to have the same sort of stuff being sold but they are still fun for us to check out and every once in a while you see something new or something we've been looking for. For us its mostly vintage books.
I hoping to find more Goosebumps books and maybe finish off my collection once and for all. My wife spotted a stall early on but it was a little crazy in that the vendor wanted $20 per book, which is more than a little excessive considering I typically find them for between $3 to $6. I moved on from that spot hoping that there would be more in another stall. The wait paid off because there was a treasure trove on the second and third floors. At one point it was like every 5th stall had a couple of different books. The difficulty now is that I only need a few more for my collection so to find those specific ones is getting more and more challenging.
I'm also looking for decent quality books with no damage to the spine and minimal damage to the cover. Its another layer of difficulty in my hunt. I did manage to find four more this time around. Its actually a huge win considering nowaday I rarely even find one I need anymore. Now I only need seven more to finish the set! The ones I need are from later in the series, which I almost never see.
Collecting anything can be a slippery slope. One thing leads to another and suddenly you've got multiple collections on the go. I started collecting the fear street novels now.
There were a lot of them at this market but I held back on buying more than what's shown above. I already had a ton of books in our basket and I didn'twant to get carried away.
Animorphs were another huge win of the day. They are so rare that I've never actually seen these books being sold in a used book store or antique market anywhere. I only have the ones I do because I found them on Facebook marketplace. Today I found huge numbers though. One vendor had a full book shelf packed end to end. If that wasn't enough I was actually shocked to find that there was another batch of the same number hidden behind the first one. Multiple copies of the books in one spot!?! Thats unheard of! There was probably close to 80 books there or more but they still didn't have all of the ones I needed. Again, its the last books in the series which seem to be the hardest to find and currently I don't have the last book of the original series which is probably the most important book at this point. It would be a shame not to know how the story ends...
Anyway, I also found a couple of the companion Books that day. These are extra side stories beyond the original series. So that was another win for the new market.
One really neat book I found is this second printing with an actual hologram on the cover.
By moving the book up and down you can make the image shift between a cat and a girl. Its a neat design image for a children's book.
