Yesterday is the last day of the Water Festival in Myanmar. It is also the first day of the Myanmar New Year and is a sacred day for the Burmese people. This day is the day to pay homage to old grandparents and parents, and to visit pagodas and monasteries to establish auspicious rituals.
The Water Festival in Myanmar lasts for 5 days. It is the Myanmar New Year and everyone here participates in this festival. Everyone splashes water on each other to wash away the bad things from the past year and bring good things. I have been to Mandalay the most. This year I participated in the Water Festival in Pyin Oo Lwin. The weather in Pyin Oo Lwin is very cold, which makes the water very cold. In some places, the water is mixed with ice, so it is very cold. So, if you are going to the Water Festival in Pyin Oo Lwin, I would recommend that you bring extra clothes and raincoats.
And at the water festival show I went to yesterday, the drunkards were dancing violently and inciting violence. So we stayed away from those people. Later, the security arrived and the drunkards left. So if you are going to the Water Festival shows, you should avoid those drunkards. Those people are the ones who are destroying our traditional Water Festival. They are just using drunkards as an opportunity. Let's start the New Year with happiness and achieve success.
