I was on an evening stroll with my son yesterday just within my estate, and then we met this known school shoe seller, and surprisingly, he had already switched to selling boots.
It's rainy season already, and as usual, a lot of streets here in Lagos State are always flooded. For the past three days, it has been raining consecutively, and that's how roads are flooded.
For some people, their compounds are flooded, and the only way out is to put on boots, and leave your house to work or to the market or go to church or you can choose to stay at home indoors waiting for hunger to deal with you, lol.
You see, the boot seller is a smart businessman. He knows that most parents already purchased back-to-school shoes, and currently it's just a few that are demanding school shoes in the middle of the term, probably because a few parents' which their kids' school shoe got bad to replace. So instead of waiting for a low demand, he switched to selling boots; he understands the season and smart enough to make the most use of it.
Obviously, boots are in high demand now, both for adults and for children. A lot of families are not mobile, so the boot becomes a lifesaver so they can attend to their daily activities without setbacks.
I guess I am lucky, as my home is not always flooded no matter how heavy the rainfall seems to be. My street too has been under construction, almost ready to be interlocked with gutters, so lucky me, I wouldn't be swimming inside a flood like last year, but our neighboring estates are still facing flood challenges this season; no doubt the boot seller is already cashing out while solving people's problems.
Lessons: Look around your vicinity and think of a problem to solve; there could be millions of money waiting for you to make from simply solving people's problems. It might look common but could be a treasure.
