Spending the weekend with my girlfriend has been one of the best things I have done this past week. I can't begin to explain how relieved I have felt just being with her this weekend.
My little bundle of job has been my safe haven--my safe place in a world of chaos. I am only at peace in her presence. With her, I don't have to worry about anything or anyone. I just feel loved and appreciated.
Love is the antidote to chaos. With love, we amass a certain quality and quantity of strength that cannot be achieved through logic or even work.
Yesterday I did not need to talk myself out of negative thoughts, neither did I consciously fight any negative idea. I was in a tranquil state without having to do much. All I needed to do was be there with the one I love.
At the end of the day, there is no stronger motive to go out into the world and be the best that one can be than the one that comes from loving something or someone, even to the point of sacrificing everything.
For me, the motive has been to cater to the people I love and that is because, in all honesty, I do not care about my existence so much. I derive meaning through my act of service to the things and people I love.
THE PRESSURE OF BEING A MAN
The pressure on a man's life even in this time and age is so immense. As a young adult man, it is very difficult to find your place in life and most of us have given in to nihilism.
The only way around this feeling of worthlessness and emptiness is through discipline and love. You need great discipline to calm inner critic and channel your energy in the right direction but love makes it all easier to achieve.
To be disciplined is far easy to accomplish when compared to love something truly even more than our very self. This is because most of us are naturally narcissistic.
The problem of being narcissistic is that you are motivated by the self and that is not enough to carry one through life becoming a villain. You get high on your own supply and have little or no regard for others.
You can easily tell when a person lacks proper emotional support and intelligence. They are irritable and brash; they lack the mental fortitude to be kind and understanding. Even when they achieve great feats most people would rather stay away from them.
Maybe love is the answer to such persons. I think about the world we live in today and how most of our problems would be solved if we genuinely cared about each other. It might sound like a cheesy thing to say but we all need love.
I hope you surround yourself today with the right things and people. I hope you find the love that drives you into doing great acts of kindness. I hope you find the strength to walk through the chaos of life. Cheers!
