This is my very first direct proof of brain posts. Yes, I have fomo'Ed my way here thanks to . I don't know often I can post here given that I am engaged with a lot of community (which is going to e a major point of this post), but I would try to make out time for this series I tag: #WHATSONYOURMIND. You can jump on it if you want.
Now to today's topic -- hive. There has been a lot happening on the chain (good and bad). I don't want to discuss the bad which in my opinion is counterintuitive. I would like to protect my interest. However, if you're active on the chain you might have a clue on what I am trying not to talk about.
I joined the blockchain in 2018 if I am not mistaken when we were on our sister chain. I watched it grow from just a single front end to a blockchain of dapps and communities.
One of the major problems we've had here is the polarizing views regarding the growth and sustenance of the blockchain. This has led to the development of several fractions. Thankfully, we have communities now, so everyone can go about their growth as they see fit. However, we still all have a stake in the hive blockchain.
Everything goes through hive which seems problematic in a way. Let me explain: I belong to more than 5 communities. It is my goal to be active on all of them via posting, commenting, staking, and still be active on hive. I have the time and creative resources to achieve this daily.
There are days when I want to make a video on 3speak, a movie review on cinetv, and a finance post on leo finance. Ideally, I would want to post once a day but that's almost impossible given the number of dapps I use. Everything trickles down to hive.
There is also the issue of over-rewarding on hive. Many groups have different viewpoints regarding this. I guess everyone has the right to use their upvote or downvote in a way they deem fit. At the end of the day, I believe building your own community/tribe with its tokenomics is the best cushion against what many might tag malicious downvoting.
So in a nutshell, I believe the solution to some of the tribal and ideological warfare is to decentralize further away from hive. At some point, I do not want my hive earnings to matter that much, neither do I want to directly interact with the hive blockchain. This is where I think we are heading. How long would it take? Only time will tell.
