I completed 6 years in my current organization last week and yesterday, my door bell rang. There was some courier guy holding a big box. My husband asked me "what on earth have your ordered now? " And I was like "I didn't order anything."
When we accepted the box from the courier guy, we were excited to open it because we didn't know what was inside it and who sent it. What I saw just left me into tears of happiness.
It was a letter from the CEO of my organization thanking me for my valuable contribution over the past 6 years. Not only that, the best part was that this letter was addressed to my parents as "STAR PARENTS" because undoubtedly, they are the force behind my success and accomplishments. The CEO recogonizing this fact and sending a letter to my family to thank them is a big deal in itself.
When I showed it to my parents, they were super proud and so so happy. They couldn't stop boasting it to other family members and their friends.
There was also a trophy in that box (and that's why the box was so big). Thats trophy was for the parents only. My parents asked me to bring that trophy to them when i vist them next so that they would place it in their bedroom and wake up to it everyday.
I felt so happy to see those expressions of happiness on my parents' face. It was like they have received a grammy :P
But I personally think that it was a great gesture on behalf of my organization and the CEO to thank the parents of their employess because truly, they are the driving force for us. Without their support, we would not have been at the place where we are today. Good nutrition, good manners, confidence and encouraging words bestowed upon us by them has made us who we are today.
All the employers should indulge in such gestures, this really motivates the employee to stick to the same organization and do more each day.
