What is it about being happy? Can you force yourself to be happy? Can happiness be invited or taken away from someone? Is there anything specific that can make us happy?
According to me, happiness is just a state of mind. It's not something that someone can bring you, or you can buy. If you have to be happy, you have to just feel it. You don't need any specific set of people or need to be at any particular place to be happy; you just have to feel it from within.
Lot of people think that they want something which will make them happy but that's just, again, in their mind. If you want to be happy, you can be happy just by doing nothing.
So let me relate this to my life. When I got married, some of my other friends got married too at the same time. They used to visit these lavish 5-star hotel restaurants to have a dinner date with their better halves. And I used to feel bad that I was not doing the same.
So on my 1st anniversary, I booked a really nice restaurant where a normal cocktail would cost 5x the price and a simple pastry would cost 10x the price. I was awestruck to see the charges there but we did go and had a nice date.
But after that I realized I could use that bill amount to go on 10 dinner dates at normal places and have 100x the fun. Gone that day, I have never craved for anything to be happy. I realized happiness is not in luxury or any other materialistic thing. Happiness is something that you have to feel and sense.
One can find happiness seeing a small plant grow while one might not feel happy buying a bungalow for themselves.
Happiness has no definition; you can't define the situations and circumstances to be happy. The same situation might make you happy once and sad the other time. It's all based on how you want to take it.
Having said all of that, I would want to conclude by saying
**happiness is a virtue by which your life becomes easier, problems look less problematic and you grow as a better human being. **
