I am currently in my early 30s and like everyone else, I also have a retirement plan. I plan to retire at the age of 48, which is exactly when my boy will turn 18 years old.
My retirement age is linked to my son's age because when I retire, I want to be really free. At the age of 18, Raag will grow into an adult and will be able to take care of himself, own his life and decisions.
Coming back to my retirement, there are several things I have in my mind that I plan to do once I retire.
- Settle at some peaceful hill station in a small house, not more than 2 BHK.
- Open a small cafe where I can offer some delicious food and handmade chocolates.
- Maintain a small garden to grow my own vegetables and fruits.
- Work for an NGO to help and support the orphans.
- Travel within the country.
Retirement to me doesn't mean quitting work and relaxing or depending upon my kids to support me. Not at all! For me, retirement is going to be my "live your dreams" period where I would do only those things that I love. I might have to give some extra hours for that, I don't mind. I just pray to God that he keeps me healthy enough to be able to do all of it.
Accept it or not, at this point in time, we all are doing a lot of things that we don't like but have to do to earn more money or to support our family's needs. When I grow old, I want to do things that please me, not my kid, not my husband, and not my parents. I want to live for myself.
And I am obviously banking on some passive income from the years of hard work that I am going to do on the crypto platforms, and the money I'm going to earn trading in crypto.
Retirement looks fun!
