The fact that I've been reporting bad news for the past few days saddens my heart. Questions keep coming and like I said, the answers are far fetched. Bringing you the headlines.
Delta-based businessman, Sylvester Oromimi, lost his son, Sylvester Jnr, after some senior students at the Dowen College, Lagos, allegedly tortured him. He tells GODFREY GEORGE how the family is coping after the death of the 12-year-old and their search for justice
One can only imagine how much pain the parents of the deceased are going through. They sent their son to school and this happened.
A whole lot of people are implicated here. The bullies parents, the school and even the bullies themselves. Some things are things I see in movies and I just pass them by.
I can't imagine how I'd feel if i were in the deceased parents shoes. The only highlight I love from the story is the fact that the boy mentioned names before he passed away. If he didn't, it would have been an entirely different story.
I sincerely hope that they get to the end of this and the bullies are brought to justice. The boy stood his ground and he played dearly for it. He would forever be a hero and an example to others out there.
More attention should be payed to schools, especially high schools or what we know as secondary schools. That's where all these things start from. Why would a child go through such torture? It's totally unforgivable.
The punishment for such should be really grave in order to set an example to others out who have intentions of doing such.
May his soul rest in perfect peace. A champion indeed.
With love, Wongi 🥺
