Probably the last mod for now if I want to keep the DJI Mini 2 Under the 250 Gram limit which certainly helps as above that weight there are a lot more CAA restrictions with flying in the UK.
So what was the mod this week? Alloy motor covers that's what.
So why fit them two main reasons the obvious one is it stops crud and moisture getting into the open motors on the drone.
and I did notice a bit of sand being kicked up when I was flying at Whitley Bay at the weekend.
which makes them last a bit longer and less obviously it lifts the props a fraction so that they don’t contact the drone body when you do fast direction changes and the prop tips flex which can be an issue with the Mini 2.
It’s a very simple mod too, first, you remove the props and the covers are fitted using small screws, be careful not to drop them they are tiny,
In the original motor holes, the props screw directly to the covers 90deg from the original holes.
Just remember to use some blue lock-tight to make sure the screws don’t come to lose while you flying.
and fit the props back in the correct orientation.
Lastly, a quick weight checks to make sure it's all still legal and under 250g.
It perfect time to go flying again.
