The Indonesian government continues to monitor the condition of nine Indonesian citizens who were arrested by Israeli forces while participating in the Global Sumud Flotilla 2.0 humanitarian cruise mission to Gaza. Foreign Minister Sugiono expressed his hope that all Indonesian citizens are healthy and safe, while also appreciating the humanitarian spirit of the activists and journalists who participated in the mission to help Palestinians in Gaza.
However, the government admitted to experiencing communication problems because Indonesia does not have direct diplomatic relations with Israel. Therefore, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is currently coordinating with Jordan and Turkey to ensure the condition of the Indonesian citizens. Previously, nine Indonesian citizens consisting of four journalists and five activists were reportedly arrested in stages by Israeli forces after their flotilla ships were intercepted in Mediterranean waters.
