This has been one of the best surprises.
I do not recall ever encountering these mushrooms at the end of February. (it is strictly a November thingy !)
did what I always do, went all around where they grow and did not find any more, just this one.
normally there will be dozens popping up around the same time, feeding us for a week or longer.
One of the easiest mushrooms to identify with its ring which moves freely up and down the stem.
I consider myself a "chicken" when it comes to mushrooms, not willing to risk it, but in this case, I will recognize this one even with my eyes closed.
in times of abundance, I experiment preparing them in a wide variety of ways and they are always wonderful.
from the typical fleshy texture in a stew, to a soft buttery flavor fried, it is hard to get this wrong.
