After a bit of rain this morning a lot of fungi finally made an appearance. This time of year is perfect to spot as many as you can. The forest is a good place to start with.
The difficult part is timing. I can visit this forest and not see one fungi, but the next day, they might have come through but have already been damaged by the weather or eaten by slugs. This time, I caught a slug in action!
Some were decaying already but I still like the look of them. Things don't always have to be pretty to be interesting.
I tend to look for fungi on logs on the ground, tree trunks, or anything that's rotten. There's lots of spongy moss on the floor between the trees here so it's an ideal place.
I like to get down low to take shots of fungi. The only problem is, you get to an age where you can't get back up! In the forest, nobody can hear you scream .... HELP!!!
