Do you remember when was the last time I published a post in the Fungi Friday community? 🤔
You don't remember?
Me neither. 😂
I recall it could be around a year ago, but to clear up the doubts, I scrolled quickly through my whole blog of '25 and very soon reached my latest post in this community. Oh, it seems it was in December of 2024, which means my memory is still not so broken. It was indeed about one year ago; however, I was wrong in my guess about the mushrooms that were presented as I thought it was the story of Grey Hood. 🤷♀
Anyway, what we will focus on in this post is the present time and the poor guys I found the other day, on Monday, when we went to the freshwater spring in the mountains. From the first photo, you see how nice the views from there are, looking towards the little village of Guadalest (it can barely be seen in the photo, but it is there). What I liked the most was the layer of clouds covering the mountain range behind the village. The unfortunate thing is that even these nice views couldn't help the poor mushrooms that I accidentally discovered in my short walk.
To reach the place where I stumbled upon them, I walked uphill on this asphalted path. I assume it is necessary to have at least some decent asphalt roads leading to the nearby orchards, but still, it somehow doesn't fit the feeling of being surrounded just by pure nature. That is why, after some time, I chose a smaller forest path.
To be honest, I did think, or rather wish, that I might find some mushrooms, but the chances for that were not high. It has not rained here in a while, the ground is quite dry, but you never know in these mountains in this season.
You see? - said the voice that had not lost all hope.
Yes, I see. A little mushroom hidden among the conifer needles. So what? It doesn't have vibrant colours, nor is it so pretty... however, it is alive, and that is actually a lucky thing for this guy. Just next to it, I found more of the same type, all taken out of the soil already and left there. 😕
I am not sure who or why took them out of the ground. Was it someone who thought they were dangerous or someone who wanted to take them home, but in the end changed their opinion and just left the mushrooms there? I don't know.
Although I am not an expert on fungi and cannot identify this type of mushroom, I believe they are not poisonous.
One by one, I took them (though with a certain precaution, as if I to some extent thought they could be harmful for my hands haha) and made a small collection of the unlucky guys that I found lying around.
Mushroom collection:
Leaving the collection there and heading back to the asphalt path, I stumbled upon another one. 😳
Why are the gills black? Maybe burnt by a human?
I felt sorry for the mushroom, but in the end, it looked almost like a cookie burnt in my oven an artwork.
This flying saucer, I mean burnt cookie burnt mushroom is greeting all of us this Fungi Friday. 🍄👋
