Today was Fungifriday! I found a very beautiful white mushroom. This little guy grows among the green grass. It's a type of Entoloma mushroom with a long, small stem and a beautiful round hood. It grows in slightly sticky, moist soil. Seeing this mushroom grow so beautifully, I keep seeing it every day. But this type of mushroom doesn't last long because its soft texture is easily broken and rotten. So, I took a picture of it through the camera lens so I can see it all the time.
This mushroom has gills under its cap, but they're pretty clean because they don't store colored spores.
Entoloma is a genus of fungi in the order Agaricales. Called pinkgills in English, the basidiocarps are usually agaricoid, although a minority are gasteroid. All have salmon-pink basidiospores that colour the gills as adults and are angular under the microscope...Wikipedia
Fungi are important in nature because they're great at breaking down stuff and getting energy back into the soil, which then gets used by plants and other things around them.
