I found some blonde morels for this #fungifriday by
When it is still cold around 50 degrees F and it rains I go out looking for morels.
I brought my daughter along to teach her the ways of looking for strange morels.
Sometimes I find black morels or gray ones. This time I found only blonde morels.
As you can see they are mostly white with a hint of orange. Others have brown or even black caps or are a mix of white and gray. All of them are edible so long as you check to make sure the stem is hollow.
Sadly around here finding morels is difficult, the weeds are always out and you have to brush away the surface leaves to see the morels growing below.
The trick is to look for dead trees with bark falling off of them. Morels usually like to grow out of the dead roots of trees. Sadly while I was brushing around the leaves I accidentally broke this one.
My daughter started looking through the weeds too and found this one.
Later on we spotted some mica caps too.
These are also edible but when you cook them they get slimy.
