I hadn’t planned to go fungi hunting today. The weather wasn’t great, and my motivation was low, but sometimes on days like this, we try to lift ourselves up and find a little positivity. So I went for a walk in the woodland, and I was pleased to see how the little beauties lifted my mood.
I passed by a pile of mossy logs with mushrooms on it.
They were poking out of the moss everywhere, mixed in together.
The mushrooms were all perked up.
Seeming to enjoy the cold, wet weather.
Then I hung around by the stream.
This fallen wood over the stream has always been here. The mushrooms had been dried before, but today they were all fresh.
Not only were they fresh, but different kinds were growing too.
Each part of the tree has different mushrooms growing; it seems that each type chooses its own spot where it will thrive.
They were packed and crowded.
This type seems to love growing just under the trunk, near the water.
Growing in stillness.
These are clinging to this thin stem.
And more!
Looking at them against the water was mesmerising.
Sometimes, all you need is to pause, look around, and notice. Beauty is always there when we pay attention.
Have a lovely day,
