Things have gone south once again for my cannabis seedlings. Two of the four were males and the two others became stunted once again. Drastic measures need to be taken for my next grow, as I feel the soil even amended is no good. So I have bought some new soil that is known for growing good cannabis plants and going to give that a try. A more “premium” soil will be new to me, as the nicest I have had in the past was miracle grow.
I am a little confused on what exactly is wrong with my old soil, I added the nutrients.. and PH tested their water and its all in check. And after my recent failure I amended the soil with half of a good seed starting mix. Things were going better until around week 3 again where growth stopped, yellowing and black starting showing up. And about a week later they were wilting.
A week before... The black tips of the leaves were not a good sign, one of the first something was going wrong.
I have been feeding them a plant tea which should have what they need for seedlings. And I was being careful not to over water them.. only giving them a tiny bit every 6 or so days.
This change in their health was quite surprising as they were putting on vigorous growth for the first few weeks.
The one I topped at its third node also started yellowing shortly after and its new growth stopped developing.
And then I found a second male plant, I am going to avoid getting more "regular" seeds and focus on feminized. As it can be quite annoying dealing with the males.
Though I am pretty sure the one I topped is a female, it should have kept growing and not just started turning yellow like it was.
We can see where it was cut, and new leaves formed but then stalled all growth.
Around a week later one of the seedlings that was going to be topped soon stopped growing and withered.
So at this point I decided to remove what was left and start over, but with all new soil.
Along with Happy Frog, I used Ocean Forest at the bottom of the pots.
And a few days later my new seedlings are growing now.
So small, yet I hope they will grow into something big.
Three of the four pots now have germinated seedlings. One pot is lagging behind, may start a new seed soon to replace that pot.
I think this time I am not going to top them, since these are all the same strain now and autos. I think they will stay quite small.. Well I have never had a successful auto crop so time will tell.
As for the old dirt, I bagged it up. Not sure what I am going to do with it. Seems like some plants do not mind growing in it. While others like the cannabis is quite picky about it. So I may add it to my garden beds outside.
