"Quality over quantity", a statement made mostly with regard to food concerns. I find it though largely encompassing—beyond just that context. Much more, when it has to do with the digital world. With growths and advancements in the digital space, quality of the contents in this space follows the line too. At a point, all one could have was some quality of videos, pictures, images that you could do nothing about. You either flowed with it or have nothing to flow with. I was more of a carefree person when it comes to quality then. Quality wasn't even part of my discussion. Just let me have the contents and I'm good to go.
Later on, quality became a thing; so much more to me as well. I would not engage with a content—movie, picture, video—if it doesn't have that "HD-like" quality. Even if I did, it was with little or no satisfaction, which would go on to even affect the entire point of engaging with the content.
Quality is a thing for me now—and for some good time too. I could remember having some movies on my laptop that I was meant to watch. They were nice and interesting, that I can say. At that time, I would randomly receiving movies from my friends and course mates into my laptop. However, I never got to watch some till the hard drive cashed. Why? Oh yes, some were of very low quality that everytime I intend to watch them, I ended up in another thing or another movie. Till they finally left me, I was still intending to watch them, but never.
Remembered when the movie "Black Panther" was out? Yeah, I guess that movie; I came across several persons having and watching the cinema dub version. It was certainly tempting me to just watch that version too, which was nothing even of low quality to say. Talk of the poor audio quality beyond that of the video, that would have been a sort of torture rather than entertainment. I had to wait for some time, when the movie was released, and with the wonderful quality every moment of the movie was enjoyable. Many who watched the cinema dub said they did that with hope that when the original comes, they would still watch it too. Well, not me.
Talk of pictures or images quality and sharing too. If there's one big issue with WhatsApp and Facebook is their ability to highly and willingly deteriorate the quality of one's contents for whatsoever reason they could have. Thanks to the feature brought in that allows sharing of videos, pictures and images in "HD."
Prior to that, all I depended on was sharing such as documents through WhatsApp. This I find as even the best option when sharing such things as pictures, images, designs—yes, for the graphics designer I am. I share them in such way to ensure quality is maintained. Anytime I need files from someone that need be shared through WhatsApp, the document format is the means I request it be sent as. In some cases, the HD option is just fine.
In any case, put aside quality and you have me partially or completely put aside too, depending on the matter and concern. Quality is much important and it's something I'll always look out for when navigating and living the digital world.
