Hello there! 👋
Today I am going to be talking about my favorite productivity hack and an additional bonus productivity hack.
For as long as I can remember (that is, since I was a child), I have always wanted to have my own space. I didn't have my own personal room when I was a child; I didn't even get a shared room with my brother until much later. The reason I have always wanted my space is clearer to me now than it was back then.
# Arranging my space in a way that encourages productivity
At the time, I basically felt I could do more when I was in a controlled space controlled by only me. I used to go under the dining table in the sitting room because that was the only private space I could find in the whole house.
I go there because I feel more independent and in control of the outcomes around me. I know that if I arrange my little space there, I am not going to find it scattered when I come back 😂. See ehnn, that arranging of a thing, if I arrange somewhere and I go outside for a little while and I come back to meet it scattered, it annoys the hell out of me.
That is why sometimes I am too lazy to do some chores, especially in school, because just give them 10 minutes after you've finished arranging, and you will be shocked to find the room the way you met it before tidying up 😂
All this history is just to give some context. When my space is organized and arranged, it makes getting work done, like studying, writing, taking pictures, videos, editing, reading, listening to music or podcasts, playing chess, and a lot more, easier to get done.
For me, I will call this my number one productivity hack! 001
# Leveraging my emotions and thoughts to propel me to action
The bonus productivity hack is leveraging my thoughts and emotions to propel me to action. This is not my favorite because it is difficult and therefore not sustainable; it is based only on willpower, which can last me only for a while.
This hack, I will say, is my most productive productivity hack. I have been in living conditions like my school hostel, where leveraging an organized environment is not a possibility. Like I said earlier, arranging my room is just like pouring water into a basket.
So, in such conditions, I attach emotions to the things I would like to achieve, in the sense that I get upset at myself if I don't study when I am supposed to. Not because I was lazy, but because of stress or the uncomfortable environment.
What I tell myself is that my purpose for being here is not to live comfortably (which in a normal case is a no-brainer), but to achieve the purpose for which I am here, which in this case is good academic performance.
So, I wake up from my slumber with that upsetting emotion and channel my energy into studying. If we see here, you realize that my emotions go hand in hand with my thoughts and how I choose to interpret certain things.
Also, when I don't have money and I really need money, in that emotion, I take my life seriously, take note of post-worthy contents around me, and write a very good post.
One of my best-performing posts, Unbroken (by Tosin Enianke Kiyesi) | Book Review was a time where I was completely broke, and I needed money to go about my day in school. I remembered Hive and I just read a great book that was just pushing to have a review written about it, and at that point, all emotions were pushing for the same thing, one goal.
These are the ways I leverage my emotions and thoughts to get things done.
Thank you for reading, guys. I hope you found this to be a great post.
