I like to draw one tarot card each day and see what patterns emerge over time. Most days, the cards feel like small, separate insights. But sometimes they connect and tell a bigger story.
Recently, something unusual happened. I drew the same card, Death, three times within less than two weeks.
- Thursday March 5th
- Thursday March 12th
- Tuesday March 17th
At first, this might seem like coincidence. But when a card repeats within a short period like this, it usually points to an ongoing process rather than a random event.
In tarot, the Death card does not mean literal death. It represents change, endings, and transformation. It shows that something has reached its natural conclusion and is ready to be released so something new can take its place.
The Moon and the Three Stages of Change
What made this sequence even more interesting was how it lined up with the Moon’s phases.
The first Death card appeared just after a Full Moon lunar eclipse. Full Moons bring things into the open. In this case, something became clear that could no longer be ignored. That moment marked the beginning of a change.
The second Death card appeared about a week later, around the half Moon phase. This is a time when we actively deal with what has come up. By this point, the change was already in motion and being worked through. This second appearance showed the process reaching completion.
The third Death card appeared a few days later, just before the New Moon. This is the final phase of the lunar cycle, a time for letting go and clearing space. By now, the change had fully settled. The old situation was not just ending, it had been completely released.
Tarot Works in Cycles
The cards drawn between these three moments helped fill in the story. There was a period of reflection, a moment of clarity, a shift in feeling, and a need for rest. All of these are natural steps when going through a meaningful change.
What this sequence shows is that tarot often works in cycles, just like the Moon. When a card appears once, it introduces a theme. When it appears again, it develops or concludes that theme. When it appears a third time, it often shows that the lesson has fully taken hold and been integrated.
If you draw one card a day, it can be helpful to watch for these patterns. Pay attention to repetition, especially over a week or two. You may start to see that the cards are not just giving daily messages, but tracing a larger process unfolding in your life.
Sometimes the message is simple. Something is ending. Something is changing. And if you follow the pattern, you may also see when that change is truly complete.
