Today is day 64 of lockdown in South Africa. Theoretically, on Monday, we move to level 3. But guess what?
We still have to stay at home.
That's a good thing.
Why?
Because for more than three months, I've not been able to go to a hairdresser. And when we do go out, we have a new and mandatory fashion accessory.
The masks, I don't mind wearing. I have two. One (on the left), The Husband refers to as my "formal gear". The other is for every day. It's bright and cheerful. Unlike most of us at the moment. I'm also delighted to say that they're made by a friend from university. Some of their story is here.
Lipstick sales, I'm sure, have plumetted.
Given the current hair don't, I'm happy to be under cover. With these masks, it's easy. Not that with the new normal, can one really be incognito. That's a rant for another time.
Not long after we were locked up, I admitted to having angrily attacked my locks. I also admitted to having taken more selfies, to date, than ever in my entire life. Of course, given that it's not a "thing" for me, taking a selfie, there had to be a reason - other than sharing my hair dressing achievements with my friends.
That reason: a fresh profile photo that met the requirements profiles for online teaching and other freelance work.
Here's the result:
You can find out more about this work in the blurb below, and from my most recent English with Fiona post.
Until next time, be well
