Cafe G
FINALLY, A PERFECT CUP
It happened! I found another cafe that serves perfect coffee.
Maybe I was feeling particularly positive on the day. Who knows. I just had a haircut in Finsbury Park, which I travelled to just for that purpose, for old time sake, to have my hair cut at my favourite barbershop. Most of the barbers there are from Eritrea, in the horn of Africa, and always play amazing Ethiopian/Eritrean music there, which I love. They're also excellent barbers. They always deliver exactly what I want, or better.
Not to far from their shop I spotted the place. I was attracted at first by the large glass windows and the people sat there with their laptops and cups of coffee. "Hmm, that looks nice, and airy." I looked like a great place to work, if I had my laptop. If I lived in the area, I would have found a new office.
I walked past it at first, but then returned to taste their coffee. Their signage just said "Coffee". Eh? I coffee shop named "Coffee"? Latter on I looked on their menu and saw the actual cafe's name is "Cafe G", which is somehow an even more awesome name.
On entry, it was actually a lot larger and airy in there than I originally thought. I asked the kind barista if I could take a look around first and she nodded. I ordered my Americano, as usual, and while she made it I walked down a hallway where a "Bicycle Parking" sign was. "Wow, they have space for that?". I thought that was cool.
The tables were very well spaced out so it doesn't feel crowded in there at all. I wonder if, as time goes on and the place becomes more popular, they may be tempted to insert more tables there. Especially if they ever change management. I hope they keep it like this. The space is great.
There is a dedicated socket for every table, so it's clearly laptop friendly. They want us to come there to work and drink coffee. I like when I cafe is clear about that. Sometimes I wonder if some cafes would be happy for me to come sit there all day with my machine :)
My favourite was the sofa opposite where I sat with a "Your Happy Place" neon sign, where a very happy looking guy was fast asleep. haha.
WOW! Great coffee! ππππππππππ 10/10
Like I said, I ordered an Americano. Simply put, it was the best one I've tasted in a long time. Definitely the best this year! It was the perfect temperature, quantity, and some of the lowest I've paid lately - without counting the one at McDonalds or Greggs :)
Needless to say, I'll be back there some day. I'm curious to know if I still find the coffee so amazing under different circumstances - when I haven't had the perfect haircut on a beautiful day, or the novelty of having found a great cafe wasn't there.
Peace & Love,
AdeΜ
