H10 Coffee
THE COFFEE SETUP AT THE HOLIDAY HOTEL
I'm back in London now, yay :( , but I thought it time to do a complete post about my entire coffee situation during the time away in the beautiful Canary Island paradise of Fuerteventura. It's one of the few remaining Canary Islands that I hadn't yet been to and I was happy to tick that box. It's one of the major ones and certainly one of the most beautiful in an out-worldly sense. It's pretty similar to Lanzarote which is, so far, my favourite of the lot. I'm still yet to see some of the other islands, but fingers crossed in the coming years I will complete the tour.
I stayed on the south coast of the Island in a part called "Coast Calma" which translates to "calm coast". Mind you there are no calm coasts on any of these Atlantic islands, lol, but I suppose relatively speaking compared to the rest of Fuerteventura, it is indeed quite calm. It is also quite deserted, which I very much liked.
I stayed at H10 Tindaya which, despite it's popularity with families with young children, and it being half-term in the UK so there were quite a few families down there with young kids, it was relatively quiet. It had what seemed like a private beach, even though it wasn't. It was probably the safest beach I had ever been to for children and non-swimmers alike. It was shallow for nearly a hundred meters in. That also means dangerous creatures like sharks or orcas couldn't approach the beach.
Anyway, this post is about coffee, haha, so let's get on with it.
Mike's Coffee
The hotel has a dedicated cafe, called "Mike's Coffee" opened between 12pm and 6pm. I wish it opened earlier, since I was usually up around 8pm and would have had breakfast by 9pm. The restaurant coffee, which I will talk about later, wasn't that great, so I would have liked to have avoided that and had a brew later on at the cafe.
Mike's Cafe is a proper cafe with a traditional espresso machine serving the usual menu classics. Being familiar with both European and North African style coffees, they even had more options for me as a black-coffee-only drinker. They had Espresso, Americano (or "Long Black"), and all manner of filtered black coffees. Really good stuff.
Needless to say I spent many afternoons sat there gazing at blue skies and palm trees, enjoying the Atlantic breeze. It was the perfect setting. I did have my laptop out on a couple of occasions - and people did look at me funny since many people were there to get away from laptops haha, so I downsized to just my iPad mini π
Restaurant coffee
As alluded to above, the coffee in the restaurant wasn't very good. The reason being, it was one of those automatic machine types you get in all-you-can-eat buffet style restaurants. So, while the food itself was great and highly varied, the coffee was effectively garbage. There was too much foam and the machine didn't make it hot enough.
Hotel Room
The room came with a Nespresso Machine, which I already posted about. It's the best hotel room coffee I've ever had, simply put. It made up for the rubbish restaurant coffee in the morning, and meant I had a nice option of laptoping in the balcony instead of traumatising people with it in the chill out areas :).
Chill out areas
There were chill out areas dotted around the hotel complex with sofas and beds. Some people even slept outdoors I believe. Why not? A few meters from these areas were cocktail bars, juice kiosks and self-service drink dispensers. All the said bars and kiosks also had coffee machines serving out quality coffee, like in Mike's Cafe. There was even a self-service Nescafe machine too, which I never used. I didn't fancy instant coffee haha.
ππππππππππ€ 9/10
With the exception of the restaurant, the hotel's coffee set up is excellent in every way. As a coffee drinker, who doesn't drink alcohol so couldn't take advantage of all the fancy cocktails and wines they had to offer, I still felt well taken care of. I would rate them a solid 9 out of 10! If they change the machine in the restaurant and replace it with a proper coffee service, it would be a 10/10 coffee setup.
Peace & Love,
AdeΜ
