Hello friends, I hope you had a nice Christmas with your loved ones and family togetherness. I had a great time because for another year I have had the love of my family and their presence for these dates.
Hola amigos espero hayan tenido una bonita Navidad al lado de sus seres queridos y disfrutar en unión familiar. Yo por mi parte la pasé genial pues por otro año más he contado con el amor de mi familia y su presencia para estas fechas.
If you don't know Venezuela, let me tell you that Christmas dinner in this country is abundant and most of its typical dishes are rich in flour. The traditional dish has hallaca (corn cake filled with stewed meat), baked pork leg, chicken salad (it is made with potatoes, carrots, chicken, peas, and mayonnaise), and ham bread. If you add to this the drink, it results in a rather heavy dish to consume late at night. I don't want to talk about the desserts as they are also quite varied, so I will share that in a future opportunity.
Si no conoces Venezuela, déjenme contarles que la cena navideña en este país es abundante y la mayoría de sus platos típicos son ricos en harinas. El plato tradicional tiene hallaca (pastel de maíz relleno de carne guisada), pernil de cerdo horneado, ensalada de gallina (está elaborada con papas, zanahoria, gallina, guisantes y mayonesa) y pan de jamón. Si a esto se le suma la bebida realmente resulta en un plato bastante pesado de consumir a altas horas de la noche. No quiero hablar de los dulces ya que también son bastantes variados así que eso lo compartiré en una próxima oportunidad.
This time I didn't want to abuse my poor stomach, so the Christmas dish had its corresponding protein, potato salad, and hallaca, but I left the ham bread for breakfast with it.
Esta vez no quise abusar de mi pobre estómago así que el plato navideño tuvo su correspondiente proteína, su ensalada de papas y la hallaca pero dejé el pan de jamón para desayunar con él.
Ham bread is a gift from the Portuguese colony that came to our country. Venezuela in the middle of the last century, received a lot of European migration highlighting the Spanish, Italians, and Portuguese. In these cultures, it is well known their taste for bread, so when they arrived in Venezuela, they founded bakeries and created new recipes integrating the ingredients of our land. That is why ham bread is the result of baking brioche dough stuffed with smoked pork ham, stuffed green olives, raisins, and the unique touch of unrefined brown sugar. Ham bread is a recipe that is made especially at Christmas time and was created around the '60s of the last century.
El pan de Jamón es un regalo de la colonia portuguesa que llegó a nuestro país. Venezuela a mediados del siglo pasado recibió mucha migración europea destacando los españoles, italianos y portugueses. En estas culturas es bien sabido su gusto por los panes así que al llegar a Venezuela fundaron panaderías y crearon nuevas recetas integrando los ingredientes propios de nuestra tierra. Por eso el pan de jamón es el resultado de hornear masa tipo brioche rellena con jamón de cerdo ahumado, aceitunas verdes rellenas, pasas y su toque inigualable de papelón. El pan de jamón es una receta que se realiza especialmente en la época de navidad y fue creada alrededor de los años ´60 del siglo pasado.
Usually, on Christmas day we all get up very late and our food is based on everything leftover from the previous day, it is a day when we don't cook hahaha...so the only thing I did today was to prepare a delicious coffee with milk because I think it goes very well with a few slices of ham bread, but to tell the truth ham bread is so delicious that it combines with everything and at the same time can be enjoyed alone. Some people are addicted to ham bread. They start eating a slice and end up eating the whole loaf, it really is a delight, and in my case as long as I have more coffee on hand, I think I will eat more than one slice.
Por lo general el día de Navidad todos nos levantamos muy tarde y nuestra comida es en base a todo lo que ha sobrado del día anterior, es un día en que no se cocina jajaja...por eso lo único que hoy hice fue preparar un delicioso café con leche porque creo que va muy bien con unas rebanadas de pan de jamón, pero al decir verdad el pan de jamón es tan delicioso que combina con todo y a la vez se puede disfrutar solo. Hay personas que son adictas al pan de jamón, empiezan comiendo una rebanada y se terminan comiendo el pan por completo, realmente es una delicia y en mi caso mientras tenga más café a mano creo que me comeré más de una rebanada.
